NCET 2026 Counselling
Documents Required for NCET 2026 Counselling
Complete checklist of all documents — category-wise, institution-wise, and original vs. photocopy rules. Updated June 2026.
Quick Answer: For NCET 2026 counselling you need — NCET scorecard (printed), Class 10 & 12 marksheets + certificates, Aadhaar card, 6–8 passport photos, category certificate (if applicable), transfer certificate, migration certificate, and gap year certificate (if you passed Class 12 before 2025). Always carry originals + 3 sets of photocopies.
⚠️
Critical: The category on your NCET 2026 scorecard is the only category accepted — even if you have a valid certificate for a different category, institutions will only honour what NTA has recorded. Also, OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026 — older certificates will be rejected.

📋 Section 1: Mandatory for All Students
Every student — regardless of category, course, or institution — must carry these documents.
NCET 2026 Scorecard
Download from exams.nta.nic.in/ncet. Print multiple copies — one for each university you apply to. Shows your AIR, NTA scores, and qualifying status.
MUST HAVE
Aadhaar Card
Original + photocopy. Primary government ID accepted everywhere. If Aadhaar is not available, use Passport or Voter ID.
MUST HAVE
Passport-size Photographs
Carry 8–10 recent photos (same as uploaded in NCET application). White/light background. Some universities are strict about this matching.
MUST HAVE
Class 10 Marksheet
Original + 3 self-attested photocopies. Used as proof of date of birth. Board name and roll number should be clearly visible.
MUST HAVE
Class 10 Pass Certificate
Some institutions ask for the certificate separately from the marksheet. Carry both to be safe.
MUST HAVE
Class 12 Marksheet
Original + 3 self-attested photocopies. Must show minimum 50% aggregate marks. Subject marks must match the domain you appeared for in NCET.
MUST HAVE
Class 12 Pass Certificate / Provisional Certificate
If final certificate is not yet issued, a provisional certificate from your school/board is accepted at most institutions.
MUST HAVE
Transfer Certificate (TC)
Issued by your Class 12 school. Required for migration from one institution to another. Some universities won’t process admission without it.
MUST HAVE
Migration Certificate
Issued by your Class 12 board (CBSE, State Board, etc.). Required if you’re joining a university in a different state or jurisdiction. Apply for this immediately as it takes time.
MUST HAVE
Character Certificate
From your Class 12 school principal. Usually on school letterhead with stamp. Several central universities require this.
MUST HAVE
📁 Section 2: Category-wise Documents
Required only for students belonging to reserved categories. If you belong to General category with no reservation, skip this section.
SC/ST Caste Certificate
Issued by Tehsildar, District Magistrate, or equivalent competent authority. Your caste must be listed in the Central List published by Ministry of Social Justice. No expiry date — but must be in the correct format specified in the institution’s notification.
SC/ST ONLY
OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate
⚠️ CRITICAL: Must be issued on or after April 1, 2026. An older certificate will be rejected and you will be treated as General category. Your caste must be in the Central List of OBCs — a state OBC certificate is NOT valid for central institutions.
OBC-NCL ONLY
EWS Certificate (Income & Asset Certificate)
⚠️ CRITICAL: Must be issued on or after April 1, 2026. Issued by Tehsildar or equivalent. Family income must be below ₹8 lakh per year. Must be in the Government of India prescribed format — not just any income certificate.
EWS ONLY
Disability Certificate
From a competent medical authority. Must specify type of disability and percentage. IIT Jodhpur requires certificates in specific formats (Form 1, 2, or 3) depending on disability type. Check each institution’s notification for the exact format required.
PwD ONLY
📎 Section 3: Conditional Documents
Required only in specific situations. Check which applies to you.
Gap Year Certificate / Affidavit
Required if you passed Class 12 before 2025 (i.e., you took a drop year). IIT Jodhpur specifically requires this at document verification stage — not during application. Execute on non-judicial stamp paper (₹50 or ₹100) explaining the gap period.
IF DROP YEAR
Domicile / Residential Certificate
Required by state universities for state domicile seats. Not required for central universities or IITs/NITs which have All-India seats. Check the specific university’s notification.
STATE UNI ONLY
Eligibility Certificate from Barkatullah University
Specifically required by RIE Bhopal for students who migrated from boards other than CBSE or MP Board. Apply for this immediately as it takes time to process.
RIE BHOPAL ONLY
Minority Community Certificate
Required by some minority institutions (like MANUU, Jamia) if you are claiming minority status for any applicable reservation.
SPECIFIC UNI
Sports / NCC / NSS Certificate
Some universities offer weightage to students with achievements in sports or extracurricular activities. Carry if applicable.
IF APPLICABLE
Medical Fitness Certificate
Some institutions require a basic medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner. Check each university’s admission notification for this requirement.

⚠️ 4 Critical Warnings — Read Before Going for Counselling
OBC/EWS Certificate Validity
OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be dated on or after April 1, 2026. Any older certificate will be invalid and you’ll be moved to General category — losing your reserved seat.
Category Must Match Scorecard
The category shown on your NCET scorecard is final. Even if you have a valid certificate for a different category, institutions only accept what NTA has recorded. No exceptions.
Missing Even One Document
Many institutions will not process your verification if any document is missing. You may lose your slot entirely. Double-check before travelling to the college.
State OBC ≠ Central OBC
A state-issued OBC certificate is NOT valid for central institutions (IITs, NITs, central universities). Your caste must be in the Central List of OBCs. Verify this before counselling.
✅ 4 Pro Tips for Document Preparation
Create a Google Drive folder
Scan all documents and save PDFs in a Google Drive folder. Many universities now accept online uploads — you can share the folder link instantly.
Carry 3 sets minimum
Since you’re applying to multiple universities, carry originals + at least 3 complete sets of photocopies. Self-attest each photocopy before going.
Apply for Migration Certificate now
Migration certificates from state boards can take 2–4 weeks. Apply immediately — don’t wait until you get a seat. A delay here can cost you the admission.
Print 10+ NCET scorecards
You need one printed copy per university application. Since you should apply to 5–10 universities, print at least 10 copies from the NTA portal now.

You need: NCET 2026 scorecard (printed), Class 10 marksheet and certificate, Class 12 marksheet and certificate, Aadhaar card, 6–8 passport photos, Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate, Character Certificate, and category certificate if applicable (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD).
How many copies of documents should I carry to NCET counselling?
Carry all original documents plus at least 3 complete sets of self-attested photocopies. Since you are applying to multiple universities, you may need one set per university. Also scan everything and save as PDFs on Google Drive for online submissions.
Is my OBC certificate valid for NCET 2026 counselling?
Only if it was issued on or after April 1, 2026. An older OBC-NCL certificate will be rejected and you will be treated as a General category candidate. Also, for central institutions, your caste must be in the Central List of OBCs — a state OBC certificate is not valid.
Do I need a gap year certificate for NCET 2026?
Yes, if you passed Class 12 before 2025. IIT Jodhpur specifically requires a gap year certificate at document verification, though not during the application stage. Execute this on non-judicial stamp paper explaining your gap period.
What category will be used in NCET 2026 counselling?
The category printed on your NCET 2026 scorecard is the only category institutions accept. Even if you have a valid certificate for a different category, it will not be accepted. Check your scorecard carefully — if there is an error, contact NTA immediately.
What if my Class 12 result has not been declared yet?
You can still apply using a provisional certificate or admit card. However, you must submit the actual marksheet at the time of final admission. Admission will be provisional until you submit the marksheet with the required minimum marks.
